Job Type: Regular. Plains is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in transportation, storage, processing and marketing solutions for crude oil. The Pipeliner II role is responsible to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on specified pipeline assets with minimal supervision, and will assist in other areas of pipeline operations depending upon experience level. This is a field-based role with frequent work in open environments with extremes of heat and cold, often in proximity to high voltage and/or chemicals, which requires safety accommodations such as protective clothing and equipment.
This role is subject to callouts for work associated with Plains field operations and/or emergency response.
- Performance of all Pipeliner I responsibilities and work tasks with minimal supervision.
- Perform routine and non-routine maintenance, upkeep, and cleaning of station, pipeline, and terminal facilities.
- Perform duties related to pipeline construction and maintenance.
- Clean and maintain pipeline rights-of-way.
- Conduct repairs including ILI verification digs, pipeline change outs, re-coats, etc.
- Assist in pipeline tank blinding.
- Install and remove pipeline pigs regularly.
- Assist in ILI smart tool installation, tracking and extraction.
- Act as relief for Pipeline or Terminal Operators as requested.
- Locate and mark pipelines with locator and respond to “one call” system.
- Cooperate with operations personnel during DOT required inspections.
- Comply with all job-related Plains safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in pipeline construction and maintenance.
- Demonstrate safe work practices following Plains’ safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in 24/7 Emergency Response.
- Perform Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures.
- Assist with any other pipeline related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience at the prior level.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Ability to read and interpret pipeline maps, technical drawings, and technical schematics.
- Ability to work in a team-based work environment, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in power tool operation – i.e., compressors, power sprayers/tools.
- Must have basic computer skills:
Excel, Microsoft Office, Word, etc. - Must be familiar with PHMSA and OSHA regulations.
- Must have an outstanding safety record.
- Ability to successfully complete company Haz-Mat training, required DOT operator qualifications to perform pipeline mechanical operations, and mandatory safety training.
- Ability to work in moderate to heavy physically demanding working conditions, including working outdoors in an open environment with extremes of heat and cold.
- Valid US drivers’ license with a clean abstract.
- Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
- Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment screening.
