Director of Facilities and Operations

Overview

Direct and manage facilities and operations, including district transportation services. Maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use may be made at all times. Provide students with a physical learning environment that is safe, attractive, and functional.

Direct and manage the daily operations of the transportation department. Coordinate assignments and schedules of bus drivers, monitors, and mechanic services and routes to ensure safe and efficient transportation service. Oversee maintenance of all district‑owned vehicles. Ensure safe and efficient operation of the transportation department.

• Direct and manage facilities and operations, including the transportation services described above.
• Coordinate and supervise day-to-day district facilities and transportation operations to support safe, reliable, and efficient service.

• Education/Certification: High School Diploma;
  Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Special Knowledge/
  
  Skills:
  
  Knowledge of basic principles of construction, school plant maintenance, and transportation operations
• Ability to manage budget and personnel
• Ability to coordinate district function
• Ability to operate equipment and vehicle parts
• Ability to direct and supervise personnel and coordinate shop operations
• Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to direct and manage operations of a large fleet of vehicles
• Ability to operate buses
• Knowledge of energy management and vehicle repair and maintenance

• Three years' supervisory experience in maintenance operations
• Five years' experience in maintaining a large plant or building
• Three years' experience in transportation operations (preferred)
