Position Overview: The Boards of Education in Rochelle are seeking an Assistant Superintendent to help achieve its vision of "Preparing Students for their Tomorrow" by providing leadership and oversight in the implementation of the Board of Education's goals, policy and strategic initiatives.
Dual District Organization: The Assistant Superintendent will report to the Superintendent as part of the Rochelle School's dual district leadership structure. The position will be employed by both Rochelle Township High School District 212 and Rochelle Community Consolidated District 231 as part of both District's efforts to implement a shared service educational leadership model.
- Leadership & Strategic Planning:
Assist the Superintendent in implementing Board of Education goals; coordinate district improvement planning; supervise assigned Directors and Principals; serve as acting Superintendent when designated. - Business & Finance:
Develop and administer the annual budget and long range financial plan; oversee accounting, payroll, purchasing, audits, tax levy and insurance; present monthly financial reports to the Board. - Teaching & Learning:
Support curriculum assessment, school improvement, title programs, grants, instructional innovation and student performance data monitoring. - Operations:
Direct facilities, maintenance, transportation, food service, safety, technology, construction and capital projects. - Human Resources & Compliance:
Assist with recruitment, evaluations, labor relations, collective bargaining and personnel investigations; ensure compliance with federal and state laws, Board policy, FOIA, Title IX and risk management.
- A valid Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrative Endorsement (Type 75 CSBO endorsement); and/or Illinois Type 77 Superintendent Endorsement with demonstrated expertise in school finance preferred
- Masters degree in educational leadership, school business, finance or a related field
- Successful leadership experience in school administration, finance operations and personnel management
- Strong knowledge of Illinois School Code, ISBE requirements, budgeting, grants, labor relations and school business practices
- Strong history of utilizing leadership, interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills
A regionally competitive compensation package, with a minimum salary of $120,000, commensurate with education and comparable experience. Benefits include sick leave, vacation days, personal days, health insurance, dental/vision insurance, life insurance, TRS/THIS contributions, professional membership dues and travel expense reimbursements. It is anticipated that the total compensation package will be based on successful experience and expertise. It is expected that the initial contract will be for a multi-year period, as authorized by Illinois statutes.
