POSITIONSUMMARY
A Respiratory Therapist treats patients with respiratory diseases and conditions using specialized medical equipment, oxygen therapies, and manual treatment techniques; examine and evaluate patients for respiratory problems; and operate medical equipment to carry out cardiopulmonary tests.
Education:- Graduate of an AMA accredited educational program for Respiratory Care.
- Successfully completed the National Board for Respiratory Care certification exam and/or Registry Exams.
- Current and valid license with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.
- current CPR and PALS certifications required. ACLS required for all regular day shift staff.
- Two years accumulated work experience in a similar job and/or hospital respiratory therapy department.
- The ideal candidate must be able to work and complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Demonstrates the ability to work accurately and effectively in oral and written directions and communication.
- Enjoys working with people and works cooperatively with other hospital staff.
- Ability to stand for periods of time while setting up equipment, assisting in therapy of patients.
- Constant kneeling, stooping, bending, twisting and occasional need to lift patients.
- Medium Lifting, generally lifting not more than 50 lbs. maximum with assistance, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
