Location:
Rochelle, IL.
Pay: $23.00–$37.00 USD per hour.
Job OverviewAs a Quality Technician at Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in ensuring product quality and process compliance across the facility. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, this role supports plant operations through inspections, testing, audits, and continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities- Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies and report unsafe conditions.
- Conduct inspection and testing activities to support plant quality requirements.
- Notify operational personnel when product is out of tolerance and verify quality after adjustments are made.
- Support operations as a team member to define root cause and resolve issues before they impact quality.
- Ensure non-conforming products are identified, recorded, and properly tagged.
- Monitor cleaning and environmental processes throughout the facility, including cleaning and calibrating pH instrumentation, performing titrations on process tanks, ensuring treatment processes operate efficiently, ordering chemicals as needed, monitoring wastewater treatment systems, recording water flow meter and pH readings, and performing laboratory indicator testing of effluent waters and making process adjustments accordingly.
- Conduct inspections of specific processes throughout the plant.
- Perform workstation audits on the shop floor to ensure quality procedures are implemented and effective.
- Train other employees as required to support quality standards.
- Support the gauge calibration program by issuing and monitoring gauges used on the floor, and perform daily audits of gauges utilized throughout the facility.
- Coordinate special projects as directed by the Quality Manager.
- Participate in continuous improvement and yield projects.
- Assist with additional projects and analyses as needed.
- Maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance.
- Lead and promote health and safety work practices in accordance with regulatory agencies and company policy.
- 5+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Strong team player with the ability to coordinate efforts across multiple groups.
- Sound decision-making, analytical, and computational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Physical abilities: ability to bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, push, and pull; ability to reach in all directions; meet other physical requirements as needed.
