Seasonal Grain Elevator Operator

Target hire date: 8/15/2026. Pay: $18/hour. This role primarily involves working at a facility that loads and unloads trucks and performing a variety of duties based on daily needs.
ResponsibilitiesActual responsibilities will vary depending on daily needs and type of facility.
- Fully participate in the company Safety Program and attend daily pre‑shift meetings.
- Perform all duties in compliance with OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations (ISO where applicable), including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Transfer, load, and move grain to appropriate locations.
- Maintain grain quality while it is stored or transferred.
- Weigh trucks and grade grain where applicable.
- Complete documentation accurately, timely, and legibly.
- Carry out general clean‑up tasks such as sweeping, shoveling, washing, painting, and other housekeeping responsibilities.
- Operate, run, monitor, and shut down dryer (where applicable).
- Perform preventative maintenance and/or repairs (where applicable).
- Operate heavy equipment as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- No prior experience required; 1 year of experience in an industrial environment is preferred.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills at all levels.
- Ability to complete documentation requirements.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately and troubleshoot problems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to use tools appropriate for assigned tasks.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service internally and externally.
- Balance constantly or continuously.
- Bend, stoop, twist, crouch, crawl, kneel, and squat frequently.
- Climb stairs and ladders and work at significant heights.
- Concentrate on tasks without distraction.
- Distinguish grain grade, color, odor, and damage characteristics.
- Work with grain odor detection when required.
- Enter information into a computer.
- Reach frequently and lift, push, pull 50 lbs occasionally to continuously.
- Utilize all applicable PPE.
- Meet PFT and fit testing requirements.
- Pass all required testing under FRA and DOT.
- Work in confined spaces.
- Walk safely on barges and around water when required.
- Stand and walk constantly or continuously.
- Communicate verbally, in person, and over two‑way radio.
- Communicate written instructions.
- Work on railcars, open gates, and operate vibrators as required.
- Work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts as needed.
- Handle high dust levels, extreme weather, and open silo bin doors and rail car hoppers as required.
