The Emergency Room (ER) nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse accountable for the coordination and delivery of quality, age‑appropriate patient care, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The ER RN shall perform nursing functions in accordance with the policies, procedures, and objectives of Rochelle Community Hospital (RCH) and RCH’s Nursing Department.
Education- Graduate of an NLN-accredited School of Nursing and holder of a current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
- BLS certified with ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NRP certification within 6‑12 months of hire date.
- One year of professional experience in a medical setting is preferred.
- Experience in Emergency or Critical Care is desirable.
- Certification as a Trauma Nurse Specialist is desirable.
- ENPC certification is desirable.
- Must demonstrate competency of those skills designated by the Manager of Emergency Services by written exam and/or demonstration.
- Must be in good physical and mental health, and able to work under pressure.
- Must have good teaching and communication skills.
- Must be able to operate designated medical and computer equipment.
- Must be willing to cross‑train to at least one other nursing unit, if applicable.
- The ideal candidate must be able to work and complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Requires sitting, standing, and walking a majority of the workday.
- Requires quick movement, agility and fast response time.
- Requires direct patient contact with potential exposure to blood and body fluids.
- Frequent lifting and/or handling of light‑weight items is likely.
- Frequent repositioning of patients is expected.
- Ability to perform CPR is occasionally required—a strenuous activity.
- Exposure to communicable diseases is possible, and wearing PPE may be required.
- Medium lifting, generally lifting not more than 50 lbs maximum with assistance, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
