Underground Utility Locator

Salary: $24.00 per hour

We are recruiting Underground Utility Locators for a rewarding career in a drug‑free environment. Vannguard seeks team members with the right attitude and strong work ethic. As an Underground Utility Locator you will be responsible for locating underground utilities to prevent damage, working outdoors and independently.

• Drive a company vehicle directly from home to job sites in response to routine ticket requests, emergencies, and relocations.
• Utilize mapping tools and locating equipment to identify underground utilities, including electric, gas, telephone, and other communication lines.
• Indicate utility locations using paint, flags, and communicate relevant information to excavation personnel or appropriate authorities.
• Respond to after‑hours emergency call‑outs following the established rotation schedule.

• Computer skills
• Valid driver’s license in the applicable state of employment
• Ability to work overtime when duties cannot be performed within a normal schedule
• Subject to Vannguard’s Drug‑Free Workplace Program and pre‑employment drug screening
• Self‑manage and communicate with supervisors and clients in a timely manner

• Drive 50 to 300+ miles daily as required by the assigned geographic locating area
• Get in and out of a vehicle 50+ times a day
• Stand and walk lengthy distances (1+ mile) over uneven terrain in all weather conditions
• Sit for long periods of time while driving
• Lift and/or move 50 to 150 pounds
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions

• High school or equivalent (Required)

• Driver’s License (Required)

• Multiple locations

COVID‑19 considerations:
This position is outdoors and involves minimal contact and interaction with others.

Schedule:

10‑hour shift, Monday to Friday, on‑call, overtime.
