Job Overview
Help support local agriculture this harvest season by greeting drivers, collecting grain samples, and assisting with scale operations. Target hire date is 8/15/2026 and pay is $18 per hour, with an expected base pay range of $16.00–$25.00 per hour. This role is performed on a day‑to‑day basis and may require occasional extension to weekend and holiday hours as needed.
Responsibilities- Fully participate in the company Safety Program and attend daily pre‑shift meetings.
- Perform all duties within compliance of OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Identify inbound trucks; weigh in, record information, and take samples as applicable.
- Perform grading tests required for specific grains.
- Electronically record grade, split, and other required information.
- Direct trucks to the appropriate location and weigh out empty trucks with accurate record keeping.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers, keeping the truck line moving efficiently.
- Complete documentation accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner.
- Label and store samples according to facility protocol.
- Perform general clean‑up of scale/probe house inside the work area.
- Complete any other duties as assigned.
Education
:
High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
:
None required; preferred 1 year of experience working in an industrial environment with a dependable work record.
License/Certification
:
Grain grader and/or weighing certificate. If not obtained before hire, must obtain it in time applicable to perform job duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
:
- Working knowledge of computers and software.
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; ability to interact with all levels of people.
- Strong multi‑tasking skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Capability to follow direction and use logical thinking to interpret instructions and troubleshoot problems.
- Ability to work well independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally.
- Balance continually, bend, stoop, twist, crouch, crawl, kneel, and squat frequently.
- Climb stairs where applicable.
- Concentrate on tasks without becoming distracted continually.
- Distinguish grade, color, odor, and various damage characteristics in grain samples.
- Enter information into a computer accurately.
- Reach constantly and frequently; grasp and hold objects.
- Lift 3 lb. samples above the shoulder frequently; lift 30 lb. occasionally to continuously as needed.
- Use all applicable PPE and meet requirements of PFT and fit testing when applicable.
- Stand and walk and sit constantly and continuously.
- Understand and communicate written instructions and verbal instructions over a two‑way radio; recognize emergency alarms.
- Work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and/or alternate shifts as required.
- Work in an environment with high dust levels and be aware of surroundings to adjust quickly to changing conditions.
Travel 5–20% may be required at some facilities for off‑site training and work at alternate locations.
