LER Tech Force is looking for a Controls Engineer - Systems Architect.
We are seeking a senior-level Controls Engineer - System Architect to lead the design and implementation of automation controls for production manufacturing equipment
. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role responsible for defining system architecture, developing controls software, integrating hardware and networks, and mentoring engineers across the full project lifecycle — from concept and quoting through commissioning and production support.
This role is ideal for an experienced controls engineer with deep PLC expertise and strong cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities Controls Architecture & Development- Design and implement automation controls software, structure, and standards for new manufacturing equipment
- Define system architecture including PLCs, HMIs, robots, networks, and reusable software frameworks
- Develop controls solutions that meet functional requirements, cost targets, and manufacturing efficiency goals
- Create and review system diagrams, component layouts, and logic flow documentation
- Lead code reviews and champion controls best practices and standardization
- Support equipment quotes, commissioning schedules, and timelines
- Perform proof‑of‑concept work using calculations, modeling, or simulation
- Support pre‑production builds and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, project management)
- Implement engineering changes and maintain documentation and software
- Serve as the primary technical resource for assigned production equipment
- Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts
- Coordinate maintenance training and documentation
- Define spare parts lists and technical documentation
- 15+ years of experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, or manufacturing systems
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred) or equivalent experience
- Strong PLC programming experience, including:
- Structured Text
- Function Block Diagram
- Flowchart-based languages
- Experience with industrial robot programming and simulation
- Strong understanding of modular, testable, and reusable software architectures
- Experience with code reuse and version control systems
- Beckhoff IPC/PLC experience is a plus
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing equipment
- Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills
