Help Members Find a Way Forward
$20.00–$25.00/hour | Full-Time | In-Office Training + Potential Hybrid Flexibility
Collections at Chief Financial Credit Union is about more than collecting a past-due payment.
It’s about helping people.
Life happens. A job changes. An unexpected expense comes up. A member falls behind. That’s where you come in.
As a Collector II
, you’ll work directly with members to understand their situation, talk through options, and find realistic solutions that help them get back on track — while also protecting the Credit Union and managing delinquency responsibly.
We’re looking for an experienced collections professional who knows how to balance empathy with accountability
, navigate difficult conversations with confidence, and turn challenging situations into positive member experiences.
This position is classified as an in-office role. We believe being together during training is important to learning our systems, understanding our culture, and building strong connections with your team. Once fully trained and consistently meeting performance expectations, employees may have the opportunity to work remotely 1–2 days per week, based on department and business needs. Remote work is not guaranteed and may vary over time.

In this role, you’ll manage more complex delinquent accounts and work directly with members to determine the best path forward. You will:
Connect with members regarding delinquent loans and accounts and help identify solutions to bring them current.
Listen to members, understand their financial circumstances, and provide thoughtful guidance on repayment options.
Develop customized payment arrangements when appropriate and follow through to ensure commitments are met.
Analyze borrowers' financial situations and determine appropriate next steps when traditional repayment arrangements aren't successful.
Manage more advanced collection activities, including credit reporting disputes, negative deposit accounts, repossession preparation, and accounts requiring legal action.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation of collection activity and member interactions.
Identify potential fraud or account concerns and take appropriate action.
Work closely with your teammates and leadership to meet department goals and provide an outstanding member experience.
Stay current on Credit Union procedures, compliance requirements, and collection best practices.
You understand that being successful in collections doesn't mean treating every member the same.
You're able to have direct conversations about money while remaining respectful and professional. You ask good questions. You listen. You know when flexibility can create a successful outcome — and when it's time to take the next collection step.
You’ll be a great fit if you:
Have previous collections, lending, financial services, or closely related experience and are ready to take on more complex accounts.
Are comfortable discussing delinquency and asking for payment while maintaining a member-service mindset.
Have strong judgment and can balance helping the member with protecting the Credit Union.
Can analyze financial information and use it to recommend appropriate solutions.
Communicate confidently and professionally by phone and in writing.
Stay organized and accurately document conversations, commitments, and account activity.
