Position: Data Center Manager | Rochester Hiils, MI | Full Time

The Data Center Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of our data center facilities. This role requires an individual with a deep understanding of data center infrastructure, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage a team of technical professionals.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operational Management
    • Ensure the data center operates at peak efficiency, maintaining uptime and performance standards.
    • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of data center policies, procedures, and best practices.
    • Monitor data center performance and infrastructure to identify and resolve issues promptly.
    • Coordinate and manage routine maintenance, upgrades, and repairs of data center equipment.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data center technicians and engineers.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team and with other departments.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Capacity Planning and Management
    • Plan and manage data center capacity, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
    • Monitor and forecast resource usage to anticipate future needs and challenges.
    • Work with stakeholders to plan for data center expansion or consolidation as required.
  • Security and Compliance
    • Implement and enforce security protocols to protect data center infrastructure and data.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and corporate policies.
    • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Management
    • Manage relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure quality and cost-effective services.
    • Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) with vendors.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide data center solutions that meet their needs.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data center management or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in managing data center operations, infrastructure, and teams.
  • Previous facility management experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of large electrical and cooling system infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure components, including servers, storage, networking.
  • Proficiency in data center management tools and software.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud computing.
  • Understanding of data center security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
