Position Overview

This position is an Oakland University Professional Support Association‑MEA/NEA position. The incumbent will be represented by the MEA/NEA. Qualified bargaining unit members will receive interviews and initial consideration. The role is full‑time, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week.
Position PurposeTo coordinate the clerical processing for a specialized function by performing a variety of multi‑step processes according to a specified framework of procedures, regulations and precedents; and to serve as an informational source.
Responsibilities- Manage the front desk and provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, staff and external visitors.
- Coordinate clerical tasks and ensure timely completion according to established procedures.
- Operate word processing, spreadsheet and database applications to produce documents and reports.
- Communicate effectively in a high‑paced, demanding environment and handle stressful situations with professionalism.
- Work as a self‑starter within a positive team environment, multitasking and following through on priorities.
- High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four years general office work including experience prioritizing work and meeting deadlines.
- Possess keyboarding skills necessary to perform successfully in the position.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Ability to interact effectively with the public, students, faculty, and staff.
- Knowledge of proper grammar, spelling and punctuation and ability to use standard office source manuals.
- Ability to compose correspondence.
- Ability to deal effectively with people under stress.
- Ability to perform functions consistent with intermediate word processing and intermediate spreadsheet applications, demonstrated by a skills assessment.
Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred. Qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may also be considered.
Pay and BenefitsSalary: $48,239 annually
Employee Group/Grade: C‑7
