Minimum Qualifications

* Have or willing to obtain necessary coursework to qualify for directorship per Michigan Lifelong Education, Advancement and Potential (MiLEAP)

* Minimum of three years of experience working with infants/toddlers.

* Associates of Arts Degree in early childhood, preschool, or child development and 18 semester hours in early childhood education or child development and 480 hours of experience OR CDA (Child Development Associate) credential and 18 semester hours in early childhood education or child development and 960 hours of experience.

* Maintains current CPR and first aid certification, Bloodborne pathogens

* Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to work closely with families of infants/toddlers.

Desired Qualifications

* English and Spanish language proficiency preferred

* Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or child development preferred

Position Purpose

The Infant/Toddler Director/Teacher will oversee the daily operations and strategic direction of the Baby PEACE Infant Toddler Center and Resource Hub, ensuring high-quality care and educational experiences for infants and toddlers. The Director/Teacher will report to the Advisory Board, and work collaboratively with families, school staff, and community partners to foster a nurturing and inclusive environment. Work hours will vary until September 2026 at which time, we anticipate the position to become full-time (30-40 hours/week).

Prior to hire, the Infant-Toddler Teacher/Director must complete criminal background screening, drug screening, the State of Michigan Licensing Background check and fingerprinting, and a TB test with physician's signature.

Job Duties

Program Leadership and Management

* Oversee daily operations of the infant/toddler room, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment.

* Implement and monitor curriculum aligned with early childhood standards and trauma-informed practices.

* Ensure compliance with all licensing, health, and safety regulations.

Staff/Student/Volunteer Supervision and Development

* Supervise infant/toddler room staff/student/volunteers.

* Provide ongoing professional development and coaching in child development, trauma-informed care, and family engagement.

* Conduct regular staff meetings and performance evaluations.

Child Assessment and Support

* Observe and assess children's development, behavior, safety and well-being.

* Develop individualized plans to support children's growth, including those affected by trauma or family stress.

* Maintain accurate records of assessments, incidents, and progress.

Family Engagement

* Build strong, respectful relationships with families, providing resources and support as needed.

* Communicate regularly with families about their child's development, milestones, and any concerns.

* Facilitate family involvement in program activities and decision-making.

Health, Safety, and Wellness

* Ensure all children receive appropriate care, including feeding, diapering, and rest.

* Monitor and maintain cleanliness and safety of the infant/toddler room.

* Respond promptly to emergencies, injuries, or illness, following established protocols.

Program Improvement and Advocacy

* Collaborate with the Advisory Board to evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements.

* Advocate for the needs of infants, toddlers, and their families within the organization and community.
