Position Summary
The Department of Chemistry at Oakland University invites applications for a full-time Special Instructor position, a teaching‑focused faculty role expected to commence on August 15, 2026. The appointment is at the rank of Special Instructor, a full‑time faculty position that leads to job security equivalent to tenure.
ResponsibilitiesTeach three courses (or equivalent) during both the Fall and Winter semesters, conduct instructional and laboratory sessions, develop course materials, assess student learning, and contribute to departmental service activities. Additional summer teaching assignments may be available.
Qualifications- Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.
- Demonstrated experience teaching both lecture and laboratory courses in general chemistry.
- Experience in course development, teaching at multiple levels, and designing courses in various modalities (e.g., online and in‑person) will be given favorable consideration.
