Financial Aid Adviser

Oakland University is hiring a Financial Aid Adviser. The role requires providing counseling and advice to students and parents on financial services, processing financial aid applications, and delivering workshops about financial assistance programs.

The adviser manages award packaging, verification, and resolves conflicting information while maintaining confidentiality.

• Provide counseling on financial aid, financial literacy, student billing, payment plans, and student employment.
• Process financial aid applications including budgeting, packaging, award revision, and verification.
• Deliver customer service through various communication channels and conduct educational workshops and presentations.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate ethical behavior when handling sensitive information.
• Use technical database skills and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Require a Bachelor's degree and at least one year of experience in higher education financial services advising and aid processing.
• Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree and knowledge of student account billing and employment practices.
• Salary is $48,265 annually with a full-time 40-hour workweek, Monday to Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.
• Position is in the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships department (Department 5131).
• Must be eligible for access to federal websites necessary for job functions.
