Compensation: $17 per hour
Position
Description:
Assist with Oakland University's STEM outreach programs by leading hands-on experiments, conducting guided STEM modules, and supporting educational activities for K–12 students. Help facilitate field trips by providing engaging Energy Tours, preparing and cleaning laboratories, assisting with bioengineering programs, and ensuring a safe, positive, and interactive learning environment for all participants.
- Conduct STEM modules and hands-on experiments using guided lesson plans and instructions.
- Lead engaging science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities for K–12 students.
- Facilitate bioengineering experiments for middle school students during the Wednesday Bioengineering Cohort (4:00–6:00 p.m.).
- Serve as an Energy Tour guide, providing interactive campus and engineering facility tours for K–12 field trip groups.
- Explain STEM concepts in an age-appropriate, engaging, and interactive manner.
- Assist with the setup, organization, and cleanup of STEM activities and laboratory materials.
- Supervise students during field trips and outreach programs to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
- Support outreach staff with planning and implementing educational programs and special events.
- Guide students throughout campus during tours, workshops, and scheduled activities.
- Perform additional administrative and program support duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must attend Oakland University
- Energetic with strong communication skills
- Comfortable with working with children ages 4 to 17 years of age
- Interest in Education, Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics preferred
- Strong leadership skills
- Must pass a background check through a third party organization
