Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent training and some experience in a specific discipline such that mastery of standard methods, procedures, terminology and techniques can be demonstrated and adapted to the laboratory setting.
- Knowledge of “scientific equipment” used in teaching and routine preparation.
- Ability to establish and maintain up-to-date inventory records.
- Ability to effectively interact with the public, students, faculty and staff.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and may be exposed to dirt and/or mud.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent combination of education and experience in Biological Science or Chemistry with knowledge of laboratory safety, biosafety and hazardous waste protocols.
Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.
Must be well organized, able to prioritize, self‑motivated, and work collaboratively with faculty, students, and community partners.
Position Purpose
To be responsible for all of the departmental instructional laboratories. Coordinate laboratory activities including preparing solutions, setting up weekly experiments for all laboratory courses, ordering stockroom supplies, and ensuring that the equipment and facilities are in proper working condition.
