Position
Purpose:
Under general supervision, lays out and performs finished and rough carpentry work on construction, alterations and maintenance, and performs door and hardware work related to facilities maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications- High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- State of Michigan residential builder’s license or completion of Detroit Carpentry Joint Apprentice School with journeyman card.
- Furnish proof of at least six years continuous full-time experience in the carpentry trade at the journeyman level in commercial buildings.
- Must demonstrate working knowledge of the carpentry trade pertaining to doors and hardware.
- Have experience in layout, print reading, door and hardware installation and troubleshooting, and knowledge of construction techniques and materials.
- Must be knowledgeable of materials, methods, tools and equipment of the structural maintenance trade.
- Valid vehicle operator’s license and a driving record acceptable for coverage by the university’s insurance carrier.
- Knowledge of commercial door and hardware installation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of small format interchangeable cores, cutting keys and basic computer skills.
Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.
