Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Salary Range/Pay Rate: $33.78/hour starting, $34.82/hour after probation.

Position:
Oakland University Campus Maintenance and Trades – MEA / NEA position. The incumbent will be represented by the MEA / NEA.
Shift: Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (full-time, 40 hours).
Position PurposeThe successful candidate will be responsible for campus-wide mechanics activities. This individual will be called upon to perform a variety of tasks associated with maintaining the university vehicles and grounds equipment and interfacing with mechanical and structural trades.
Minimum Qualifications- High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Six years of continuing job related automobile mechanic experience, and State of Michigan motor vehicle mechanic certification in at least eight certification areas.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of vehicle and engine maintenance and repair, brake and transmission maintenance and repair, and suspension repair.
- Knowledge of trucks, heavy duty equipment and small engine repairs is desirable.
- Ability to repair vehicles and equipment in a professional manner.
- Ability to communicate through the use of email.
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Ability to perform physically active work requiring frequent standing, reaching, walking, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing ladders and lifting in order to perform various vehicle maintenance and repair tasks; frequent lifting requiring the execution of up to sixty pounds to move and use, tools, equipment, and the application of maintenance procedures.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the University by the University’s insurance carrier.
All Qualifications. Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.
