Dunlap & Seeger, P.A. is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Controller to join our team in Rochester, Minnesota. This is an important role within our firm and will work closely with the Firm Administrator and firm leadership to oversee the financial and administrative functions that support the day-to-day operation of the firm.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on financial professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and is comfortable taking ownership of accounting, payroll, financial reporting, and related administrative processes. This position is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in the continued success and growth of an established law firm with more than 80 years of history in the Rochester community.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the firm's day-to-day financial operations and accounting functions
- Manage payroll processing and related payroll administration
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Perform and/or oversee account reconciliations
- Monitor cash flow, banking activities, and financial transactions
- Prepare and maintain financial reports for firm leadership
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Oversee financial controls and ensure accurate and timely financial information
- Support billing and collections processes and work collaboratively with the firm's billing team
- Administer and maintain financial and HR-related systems and processes
- Assist with benefits and other payroll-related administrative functions
- Partner with the Firm Administrator on HR and operational matters
- Identify opportunities to improve financial and administrative processes, efficiency, and internal controls
- Provide financial information and insight to firm leadership to support informed business decisions
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial and employee information
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred
- Prior experience in a Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or similar role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience with payroll, accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial operations
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating closely with firm leadership and staff
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- High level of discretion and professionalism
- Experience in a legal environment is preferred but not required

Position: Full-time
Location: Rochester, Minnesota
Schedule: 32 Hours per week, all hours completed on site
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
