Summary
Mortenson's Sports and Entertainment group is currently seeking a Business Development Manager that will be responsible for partnering with business unit market leaders in developing and supporting positioning strategies with existing and potential customers to win project work.
Responsibilities- Manage positioning activities of the business development team, including strategic planning, creating communications and marketing materials, research, data entry, coordinating prequalification efforts, taking notes and organizing follow-up action items with customers, industry partners, and targeted prospects, and initiating customer feedback.
- Act as the liaison between business development, pre-construction, and marketing; provide market sector insights and perform market trends analysis.
- Establish and nurture strategic business partnerships and customer relationships, developing and maintaining relationships with partners, and identifying new market opportunities.
- Convert potential future customers to contacts for market sector leaders and become familiar with customer project estimates to facilitate discussions.
- Complete Request for Proposals with 100% accuracy and compliance with owner’s specifications.
- Play an integral role with the development team, taking work direction, utilizing training, and completing performance reviews.
- Lead team members by example, offering effective coaching and feedback, and managing performance.
- Build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
- Research, update, and maintain a competitive analysis database of frequent competitors in sports construction.
- Update Salesforce to maintain accuracy of project records, sales pipeline data, and contact information with current and prospective customers.
- Monitor and summarize real-time industry news and updates, particularly information that relates to targeted opportunities.
- Main proprietary databases and assist in general data analytics efforts (data collection, data entry, dashboard development, AI development).
- Maintain accuracy of pursuit-specific files (e.g One Note Notebook's) with targeted prospect information (e.g challenges and hot buttons), key contacts, project information, and associated industry partner.
- Assist with developing and maintaining a consistent file/folder structure in SharePoint for organization of business development related files.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum five years of industry-related business development experience.
- Current driver’s license.
- Proven customer relationship building skills with local/regional business knowledge and relationships.
- Demonstrated knowledge and execution of successful marketing strategies.
- Detail-oriented for data entry, reporting, financial projections, and market analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, project management, and CRM web applications (Salesforce).
- Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills.
- Ability to interpret and communicate company policies.
- Active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback.
- Ability to travel up to 30%

The base pay range for this role is $102,900- $154,400. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
