Operations Management
The Senior Manager – Operations-MCL position is 100% on-site in Southaven, Mississippi. The role coordinates with the Director‑Operations-MCL for planning, budgeting, staffing, and performance metrics for operational support across MCS business units. It ensures operational excellence, execution of operational plans, and implements policies and systems. The role involves project management, leading a multidisciplinary team, financial analysis, staffing, recruitment, policy implementation, and internal/external communication.
Domestic and international travel is required.
Coordinate with the Director-Operations-MCL for planning, budgeting, staffing, and performance metrics for each MCS business unit. Execute operational plans, supervise staff and processes, implement policies and systems, manage project timelines, and maintain operational excellence. Engage in financial analysis, problem‑solving, and team collaboration. Regulate staffing based on fluctuating workload. Provide support for department/division and institutional projects and serve as a primary resource for issues and communications.
Manage remote on-site specimen processors and field‑based service representatives. Perform duties independently and initiate judgment in handling a variety of management issues. Travel domestically and internationally is required.
- A minimum of six years of operational management experience with a bachelor’s degree; or, a minimum of three years with a master’s degree are required.
- Acceptable degree disciplines include business, organizational leadership, logistics and supply chain management, engineering, information technology, health care administration, medical laboratory science or equivalent, biology, chemistry, or related field.
- Operational management experience that includes ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders (physician, scientist, administrative, supervisory, allied health staff) and external client stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, human relations, decision‑making and problem‑solving skills, with strong presentation and communication abilities.
- Self‑starter and team player, able to function independently and lead direct reports.
- Accountable, adaptable, and dependable within a multi‑functional environment while adhering to Mayo Clinic and MCS policies and procedures.
