Position: Science Teacher (High School)

Description

The High School Science Teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-aligned science instruction that engages students in critical thinking, inquiry, and real-world problem solving. This role emphasizes building strong content knowledge while fostering curiosity, collaboration, and scientific literacy to prepare students for college, careers, and lifelong learning.

Key Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum
  • Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned to Minnesota state standards
  • Teach courses such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other high school science offerings
  • Incorporate inquiry-based learning, labs, and hands‑on investigations
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
Assessment & Data Use
  • Develop and administer formative and summative assessments
  • Analyze student data to inform instruction and improve outcomes
  • Provide timely, actionable feedback to students
Classroom Environment
  • Establish a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture
  • Maintain clear expectations for behavior and academic performance
  • Ensure proper safety procedures during laboratory activities
Student Support
  • Build strong relationships with students to support engagement and achievement
  • Provide academic support, interventions, and enrichment opportunities
  • Promote scientific thinking, problem‑solving, and communication skills
Collaboration
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and instructional practices
  • Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs)
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
Qualifications
  • Valid Minnesota teaching license in Science (e.g., Life Science, Chemistry, Physics, or General Science 5–12)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Strong content knowledge in one or more science disciplines
  • Experience with inquiry‑based and student‑centered instruction
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Familiarity with integrating technology into science instruction
  • Experience in project‑based learning or STEM‑focused education
