School Psychologist

This is presently a one (1) year position to provide support to schools with staff leave of absences. Position may be re-evaluated for the  school year. At Helena Public Schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a School Psychologist, you contribute to this mission by evaluating pupils referred as potential candidates for a Special Education program.

You will work as part of a team that serves nearly 8,000 students at 15 campuses across Helena. Starting salary is $61,632 - $69,299.41 based on experience. The tentative work period for this position is August 25, 2026 through June 9, 2027. Some of what you will do:

• Conduct extensive psychological examinations of referred students.
• Participate in case conferences when referred students are involved, or as requested.
• Serve as a resource person concerning learning disabilities for other school personnel.
• Interpret diagnoses to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents and students.
• Make recommendations on ways to assist a student referred for examination.

Who we are looking for:
To become part of this dedicated team, you possess a Masters' degree in school psychology or equivalent; a valid School Psychologist license through the Montana Office of Public Instruction (OPI) at the time of employment, and at least one (1) year of successful experience as a school psychologist. The ideal candidate is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP). Successful candidates will be frequently required to sit, walk, stand.

The noise level in the work environment is occasionally quiet to moderate. The employee is frequently required to interact with the public and other staff.

Additional Requirements:

Hold a valid driver's license, proof of insurance and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to provide services at assigned campuses.
