Salary: $15.00/hr work Schedule/Hours may vary based on district needs & may include:
Daytime hours, Evening hours, Weekends events, Summer outreach activities, Community Engagement events.

Qualifications:

Parent, guardian, or caregiver of a current or former Allentown School District student preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated commitment to supporting children, families, and public education. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to engage effectively with diverse populations. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Reliable transportation to attend district and community events. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism Acceptable criminal, FBI and child abuse clearances (Acts 34, 114, and 151).

Ability to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodations Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish or other languages commonly spoken within the district. Experience working with families, community organizations, schools, or volunteer groups. Familiarity with the Allentown School District and community resources. Additional or alternatives to the above qualifications as deemed appropriate by the board or superintendent.

Summary:

The school community advocate serves as a liaison between the Allentown School District, families, and the broader community. School community advocates support district initiatives by promoting family engagement, assisting with student recruitment and enrollment efforts, increasing awareness of district programs and services, and helping families access educational and community resources. As trusted representatives of the district, school community advocates help build meaningful relationships with families, strengthen communication between schools and the community, and promote a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students and families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Family Engagement: Promote family engagement opportunities and district-sponsored events. Welcome and support new families entering the district. Conduct outreach calls and communications to families. Encourage participation in school and district activities. Assist with parent workshops, informational sessions, and engagement initiatives. Serve as a connector between families, schools, and district resources.
  • Recruitment and Enrollment: Assist with Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten recruitment efforts. Support student registration and enrollment events. Provide families with enrollment information and guidance. Assist families in navigating registration processes and district requirements. Promote district programs, educational opportunities, and specialized services. Support district enrollment campaigns, mobile registration initiatives, and community outreach efforts.
  • Community Outreach: Conduct outreach activities within neighborhoods and community settings. Distribute informational and enrollment materials. Attend community meetings and events on behalf of the district. Build and maintain positive relationships with community organizations and partners. Support outreach efforts within apartment communities, faith-based organizations, and community centers. Identify opportunities to expand district visibility and community partnerships.
  • Community Event Representation: Represent the district at community events, resource fairs, and public gatherings. Staff informational tables and provide district information to families and community members. Support district-sponsored events, festivals, and outreach activities. Promote district services and educational opportunities throughout the community.
  • Administrative Support: Prepare outreach materials and family resource packets. Assist with mailings, distribution projects, and event preparation. Conduct phone outreach campaigns. Complete data entry and maintain outreach records. Support Family & Community Engagement initiatives and special projects.
  • Communications and Promotion: Promote district initiatives and events through personal and community networks. Assist in identifying and sharing positive family engagement stories. Encourage awareness of district programs and services. Support family-centered communication efforts as assigned.
