Position: ESY Para educator Job Coach

Work Schedule:
Monday-Thursday, 8:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. (5 hours per day)
Session Dates:
July 6 - 9, July 13- 16, July 20- 23
Pay:
External candidates: $23.14 per hour. Internal candidates:
In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding, para educators covered by the para educators contract during the school year will receive a pay rate according to their step placement.
Required Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED and one of the following:
- An AA, AS, AAS (or higher) degree
- Two years of post-secondary coursework (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) from an accredited institution of higher education which are applicable toward a bachelors degree
- Passing score on Para Educator test
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and restrain students in emergency situations
- Clean driving record and successful completion of District Transportation Training
- Ability to drive in district vehicle as part of daily schedule
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Must be able to work with all student disability areas in school- and community-based settings
- Ability to implement behavior intervention plans
- Ability to use basic technology with minimal supports, including tablets or laptops for off-site data collection
- Ability to gather and maintain accurate program and student data
- Completion of any required training necessary for the position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent (preferably in Education)
- Experience working as a job coach or employment support worker
- Education assistant/paraprofessional or teaching experience
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, specifically teens and young adults
- Experience and/or training in behavior management
Responsibilities:
- Independently supervise the learning of students on community-based worksites per direction of the work coordinator
- Support the learning of students in the area of general workplace skills, including communication
- Act as liaison between employer and district work coordinator
- Provide assistance to the work coordinator by performing such duties as:
- Implementing Work Based Learning Training Plans and assisting with the adaptation/modification of the work environment as directed by the work coordinator
- Preparing worksite schedules
- Organizing support materials for assigned students
- Assisting with classroom activities while in the school setting
- Evaluating the performance of students on school- and community-based worksites
- Assist educational staff in performing duties to meet the specific needs of students including, but not limited to:
- Redirecting inappropriate behaviors of students in classrooms and on worksites
- Assisting in the physical movement of students
- Assisting students with personal care needs, as needed, including emergency medication administration, toileting
- Driving students to and from community or district-based worksites
- Promote a safe and productive learning environment for students, ensuring that student needs are met by communicating with other staff about student needs
- Monitor and document the educational progress of students by performing evaluations of student progress and needs
- Record data pertaining to Individual Educational Plans (IEPs)
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students and the educational setting at all times
- Other related duties as assigned
May be regularly required to walk throughout a building and may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance or push up to 90 pounds, and must be able to restrain students with proper training and assistance when needed, and may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
