SummaryMelrose Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Long Term Substitute - Elementary Paraprofessional to support our students and teachers during an extended absence. This role is essential in providing a positive learning environment and ensuring that students receive the assistance they need to succeed academically and socially. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging classroom atmosphere.
Responsibilities- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
- Provide individualized support to students, including those with special needs, to help them achieve their educational goals.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback and reinforcement as necessary.
- Facilitate small group instruction and assist with classroom management.
- Help prepare instructional materials and resources to enhance student learning.
- Support students during transitions between activities and throughout the school day.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom space, ensuring that all materials are accessible to students.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate’s degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting student learning and development.
- Ability to adapt to various classroom situations and respond to the diverse needs of students.
- Familiarity with educational technology and willingness to learn new tools and resources.
- Must pass background checks as required by school district policies.
