The Instructional Design Specialist performs a full range of professional duties assisting colleagues with designing and implementing online courses as well as computer training support. The specialist works with staff to develop new educational curriculum (courses, content and materials) and translate existing content to new delivery formats. The position conducts assessments of needs, designs curriculum for instruction, implements it, and follows up with an evaluation of courses and curriculum created.
Key Responsibilities- Provide ongoing instructional design and technical expertise for colleagues in the development of web‑based projects and online learning opportunities, including conceptualizing design options, programs, and deploying them.
- Assess education technology products for efficacy on an ongoing basis.
- Manage and track instructional design projects.
- Possibly work onsite biannually; must live within a 100‑mile driving distance to the Jacksonville, Rochester or Scottsdale Mayo Clinic campus (combination of remote and onsite work).
- Master’s degree in education, instructional design or related field is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree plus 3 to 5 years of related experience is required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Demonstrated success in curriculum design and development.
- Knowledge and experience in developing relational and web‑based databases is beneficial.
- Proficiency in standard productivity software, web‑based authoring systems, graphics software, and multimedia applications.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
- Strong video and audio editing and production experience preferred; gamification and other interactive technology knowledge a plus.
