About the Role

At IBM Infrastructure & Technology, we design and operate the systems that keep the world running. From high‑resiliency mainframes and hybrid cloud platforms to networking, automation, and site reliability, our teams ensure the performance, security, and scalability that clients and industries depend on every day.

Your Role and Responsibilities
  • Circuit Design:
    Design digital circuits including decoders, latches, static and dynamic logic, and memory cells. Utilizing VHDL and CAD tools such as SPICE, Cadence Virtuoso, and custom tools for circuit design and simulation.
  • Simulation and Verification:
    Perform circuit simulations to ensure functionality, performance, and reliability. Verify circuit designs through theoretical analysis and simulation.
  • Layout Design:
    Collaborate with layout engineers to create physical layouts of the circuits.
  • Documentation:
    Prepare comprehensive design documentation including specifications, schematics, simulation results, and test reports. Ensure all designs comply with requirements.
  • Collaboration:

    Work closely with cross‑functional teams including global digital design engineers, layout/mask designers, test engineers, and system architects to integrate circuits into overall system designs. Collaborate with manufacturing and product test engineers to ensure successful production of designed circuits.
  • Continuous Learning:
    Stay updated on the latest advancements in digital circuit design techniques, tools, and technologies. Apply new knowledge to improve design methodologies and drive innovation.
Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education
  • Master's Degree
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Strong understanding of digital circuits, including transistor‑level behavior and device characteristics.
  • Proficiency in VHDL and CAD tools such as SPICE and Cadence Virtuoso for circuit simulation and design.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience in VLSI circuit design.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Location

Primarily based in Rochester, MN, and Austin, TX, with team members distributed across multiple geographies.
