Summary
Designs and develops customer products and the design of test fixtures and manufacturing tooling. Performs basic to high complexity design assignments.
Responsibilities- Provide mechanical design and documentation for customer products and related tooling to support manufacturing requirements.
- Develop basic, intermediate or complex drawings of components and assemblies.
- Perform engineering computations and create/write specifications.
- Verify completed work, checking dimensions, materials and quantities per verification plans.
- Assist in assembling tooling, test fixtures and prototypes.
- Interact with vendors to ensure proper fabrication of mechanical components.
- Provide assistance to Hardware Design, Software Design, PCB Design, Functional Test, and ICT test teams.
- Follow project plans and report status to leadership.
- Assist in project proposals, cost estimates and Design For Excellence (DFX) reviews.
- Communicate with customer technical personnel and internal teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Coordinate with Sustaining Engineering to leverage manufacturing and test processes.
- Conduct research on and implement new design methods and tools.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and document results.
- Ensure quality of work to meet or exceed customer satisfaction.
- 4‑year Engineering or Technical degree (or equivalent education/experience).
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including 3D modeling and CAD.
- Experience in electronics manufacturing and development of electronic hardware and software.
- At least 1 year in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of sheet‑metal, plastic parts, castings, electromechanical mechanisms, machined parts and related manufacturing processes.
- Proficient in material selection and fabrication method selection.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; effective interpersonal and multitasking skills.
- Attention to detail, discretion, confidence in independent judgment.
- Proficient in continuous improvement tools (e.g., Kaizen, Lean).
- Strong customer service and client focus.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Web Ex conferencing.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to travel up to 10‑20% of the time, including day, overnight and international travel.
