We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join our award-winning architecture, engineering, and planning firm in Rochester, MN. In this role you will contribute to dynamic, interdisciplinary project teams and help shape high-performance, forward-thinking environments across a variety of building types, from healthcare facilities to performing arts centers, dynamic work spaces, government buildings, and campus electrical distributions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of electrical engineers, designers, and BIM specialists.
  • Write scopes of work for electrical design based on preliminary review and meetings with the client.
  • Prepare work plans for design teams based on project scope and team member skill sets.
  • Assess project requirements, break a project into tasks, and work with the design team to determine scope, budget, and staffing.
  • Prepare engineering opinions of probable cost for electrical systems and review contractor cost estimates.
  • Be skilled in electrical design and collaborate with owners to define project requirements, conduct building load calculations, analyze power distribution, size equipment, and edit specifications.
  • Prepare engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyze operation of existing systems.
  • Present complex engineering analysis clearly and effectively to owners and design teams.
  • Review drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards, code compliance, owners’ requirements, design standards, and the quality expectations of HGA.
  • Work with building performance team to design and integrate alternative energy sources into the electrical distribution to create sustainable designs.
  • Oversee, guide, and direct a team responsible for Revit production.
  • Assist in the education and development of design staff and function as a resource for questions.
Qualifications
  • BS or MS degree in electrical engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience designing power systems for healthcare, commercial, cultural, government, industrial, higher education, and campus energy system projects.
  • Professional licensure required.
  • Documented experience with a consulting engineering firm or A/E firm providing electrical design.
  • Expertise in National Fire Protection Association Codes (NFPA) and an understanding of applicable city, state, and federal codes.
  • Working knowledge of Revit; familiarity with electrical analysis software such as SKM, Easy Power, Helioscope, and current sustainable technologies applicable to commercial electrical systems.
Salary Information

Pay range: $101,200 - $134,800 depending on qualifications and experience. The range aligns to the geography of the office. Compensation will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible for HGA's robust benefit programs, which include an annual bonus and success-sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental, and life insurance plans, as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs.
