Senior Electrical Engineer

Leading architectural and engineering firm is adding a Senior Electrical Engineer to their Rochester team! Responsibilities include preparing scope, budget and staff after assessing project requirements, using preliminary review and client meetings to write scope of work for electrical design, preparing engineering studies/schematic design for new systems, analyzing operation of existing systems, effectively presenting complex engineering analysis to owner/design team, troubleshooting/resolving complex problems, researching non-routine code issues and obtaining interpretations from code officials, preparing sketches/system schematics for complicated design tasks, preparing calculations including whole building electrical loads, lighting calculations, power distribution calculations, equipment sizing, editing specification sections, and creating punch lists, reviewing contractor cost estimates after preparing engineering opinion of probable cost for electrical systems, developing/maintaining a thorough understanding of construction processes and delivery methods, reviewing drawings/documents for compliance, and mentoring/training junior staff.

Requirements include a BS or MS degree in electrical engineering, 12+ years of design experience for a variety of projects (corporate, higher education, or performing arts projects), documented experience providing electrical design to an MEP engineering firm or A/E firm, PE License, extensive knowledge of National Fire Protection Association Codes (NFPA), understanding of applicable (city, state, federal) requirements/pertinent standards, knowledge of IECC, LEED and ASHRAE requirements, working knowledge of Revit software, familiarity with electrical analysis software (SKM, Easy Power), and knowledge of the current sustainable technologies applicable to the design of commercial electrical systems.
