Role Summary
As a Virtual Construction Technical Associate, you will lead and manage medium‑sized or significant portions of larger construction projects, producing detailed, constructible BIM models and drawings based on contract documents, design criteria, and Harris standards throughout all construction phases.
Core Responsibilities- Lead the HDS team, set and delegate tasks, and empower members to deliver documentation and data for sign‑off.
- Ensure fabrication and installation information is accurately depicted on drawings.
- Strategize and implement cost‑effective processes to maximize productivity.
- Develop team skills, coach, mentor, and support personal growth.
- Supervise adherence to business needs and foster growth opportunities.
- Set up and organize ACC data for integration with shop drawings, aligning with company standards.
- Direct BIM information population for mechanical, piping, plumbing, and ductwork systems, ensuring compliance with codes and contract documents.
- Identify and resolve clashes, conflicts, or ambiguities; communicate priorities to project leadership.
- Manage and coordinate multi‑discipline models, lead re‑routing when necessary, and facilitate technical discussions.
- Create sign‑off record drawings and prepare technical drawing submittals.
- Prepare information for RFIs to resolve technical challenges.
- Lead project meetings and coordinate multidisciplinary efforts.
- Instruct on text, tags, and dimensions for fabrication and installation drawings; prepare spool sheets, BOM, and MAJ files.
- Lead QA/QC revisions and oversee quality of work.
- Advise on and implement industry best practices such as COBiE and ISO
19650. - Collaborate with fabrication shops to streamline detailing processes and drive efficiencies.
- Develop weekly work plans, including a six‑week look‑ahead; review labor requirements and validate team work.
- Address technical issues, assess risks, and drive solutions.
- Encourage a safety‑focused culture and perform self‑checks.
- 8+ years in a corporate environment delivering BIM/VDC services.
- 8+ years leading mid‑size to large mechanical projects.
- 8+ years experience with BIM/VDC workflows and industry standards.
- 8+ years experience with BIM/VDC software for mechanical building systems.
- 8+ years in the building and construction industry.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and mechanical building codes.
- Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings and documents.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
