ABOUT THE JOB
Environmental Services Technicians provide safe and sanitary surroundings for patients, employees, and the public in both hospital and clinic settings. Environmental Services Technicians must follow the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, and moving of objects/materials. Environmental Services Technicians must also participate in the clean-up of blood, infectious materials, and/or body fluids containing blood in accordance with the OSHA Blood-Borne Pathogen Standard or Olivia Hospital & Clinic Exposure Control Plan for Blood-Borne Pathogens.
Responsibilities- Carry linens, towels, toiletry items, and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts.
- Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
- Sort, count linens, and store them in linen closets.
- Clean rooms, hallways, waiting areas, restrooms, corridors, locker rooms, high touch areas and other assigned work areas so that applicable health standards are met.
- Dispose of trash or waste materials to appropriate disposal areas.
- Sweep, scrub, and vacuum floors using brooms, mops, and vacuums.
- Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork as necessary.
- Hang draperies and dust/wash window blinds as needed.
- Disinfect equipment, furniture, and supplies according to OHC standards.
- Move and arrange furniture and turn mattresses to effectively clean.
- Attend facility and department meetings as scheduled.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Ability to follow assigned work orders (required)
- Ability to work a variety of scheduled hours (required)
- Ability to work weekends and call-in hours (required)
- Ability to work in a constantly changing environment on a day-to-day basis (required)
- Effective time management skills (required)
