Hospital Outpatient Coder-Hybrid-.75 FTE

Mayo Clinic is a leading healthcare provider ranked top in many specialties. This hybrid position requires the candidate to live within 100 miles of any Mayo Clinic campus and to work on‑site as needed.

The HB OP Coder reviews, analyzes, and assigns codes from medical record documentation for outpatient and surgical encounters, ensuring accurate and compliant coding for facility claims.

Education and experience:

• High school diploma plus 4 years of hospital outpatient coding experience (non‑Mayo) or 4 years of Mayo Clinic coding experience, or
• Associate’s degree plus 2 years of hospital outpatient coding experience (non‑Mayo) or 2 years of Mayo Clinic coding experience.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor’s degree.

Required credentials:

• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
• Certified Coding Specialist – Physician (CCS‑P)
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

Essential skills:

• Knowledge of physician/professional coding, including E/M services, NCCI, NCD, LCD, and outpatient coding guidelines.
• In‑depth knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, patient records, and coding workflow.
• Understanding of billing/collections compliance.
• Knowledge of billing requirements for teaching and provider‑based facilities.
• Ability to work independently in a teleworking environment, organize and prioritize work, communicate effectively, and pay attention to detail.
• Not eligible for visa sponsorship.

$26.63 – $35.98 per hour.

Full time, Monday‑Friday normal business hours, 60 hours per pay period. No international assignment.
