Hospital Valet Driver – Mayo Clinic, Rochester Job Details

Compensation: The hourly base pay range is $18.50 per hour.

Work Schedule: Days, Monday through Friday. 6 a.m. to noon or noon to 6 p.m. shifts. No nights or weekends.

SUMMARY

The Guest Service Associate is responsible for providing exceptional hospitality services to guests in an attentive, friendly, and efficient manner. Duties include parking and retrieving guest vehicles safely, assisting guests with luggage, and delivering guest amenities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Maintain a pleasant, friendly, and professional demeanor with all guests, co‑workers, and clients. Acknowledge and greet guests within five feet with a professional and friendly demeanor, using guest last names during interactions.
  • Use the appropriate salutation of the day and welcome guests to the location. Practice proper Towne Park phone etiquette and remain available in designated areas when not completing tasks.
  • Parks and retrieves vehicles while driving slowly and cautiously. Assists guests with bell services and luggage storage as needed. Opens all vehicle and hotel doors for guests.
  • Assists guests with directions, taxis, reservations, and other inquiries. Provides information about outlets, meeting rooms, and amenities of the facility as well as main attractions in the area. Delivers messages, items, and guest amenities as requested. Shuttles guests to appropriate places that are approved by the location.
  • Explains parking rates and retrieval procedures to guests upon arrival. Issues claim checks only after receiving vehicle keys and collects claim checks from all guests prior to issuing keys. Maintains all ticket information including key tag, guest folio, vehicle location, damage survey, and claim check receipt from all vehicles taken into the valet system. Calculates and collects revenue for vehicles when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Required Licensure, Certification, etc.: Must hold a valid driver’s license for the state in which you are applying to work.
  • Work Experience: One month of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge: Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to read and write standard English.
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    • Ability to write simple correspondence.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to guests, clients, and other employees.
    • Ability to add and subtract three‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds; ability to perform these operations using units of American money.
    • Ability to understand 24‑hour and military time systems.
    • Ability to understand rates applicable to time passed.
    • Ability to operate a manual transmission (highly desirable).
    • Perform parallel parking.
SCOPE
  • Authority to Act: Job is routine. Incumbent follows established practices and procedures. Duties are performed under specific directions and within departmental guidelines and are checked or verified frequently. Decisions are made within specific operational instructions.
  • Budget Responsibility: The employee has control over resources available only.
