The Cloud Engineering 2 team within Cloud Services (Infrastructure) is excited to announce an opening for an Sr. IT Cloud Engineer for the AI Factory team. The candidate filling this position will be the technical lead for the team. This role includes incorporating enterprise architecture and security standards into solution design and implementation, working with the architect team to define architecture, understanding complex requests and breaking them down into actionable, well‑designed solutions, serving as the technical lead by guiding and mentoring the engineering team.

The position requires deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform infrastructure services, including the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform (formerly Vertex AI) and its services (Agent Platform Workbench, Colab Enterprise, Model Registry, and Agent Engine model serving), Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Google Batch, Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Workflows, Cloud Storage, Big Query, Dataproc, and Cloud SQL. It also requires extensive expertise with Terraform, Python, Azure Dev Ops, Azure Pipelines, Google Cloud APIs, Apigee APIs, and automation tools and concepts, along with the networking and security controls that protect the AI Factory perimeter—VPC Service Controls, Private Service Connect, Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) networking, IAM & Identity‑Aware Proxy (IAP), Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud Armor, and Akamai Web Security.

The role demands familiarity with HIPAA/PHI and data‑residency safeguards, Veracode, SailPoint, service accounts and permissions, Service Now, and SharePoint. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional technical competence and team leadership skills, possess strong communication and organizational skills, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment. The IT Senior Cloud Engineer ensures that enterprise cloud solutions are optimized for cost and functionality and is responsible for execution of the cloud/infrastructure strategy set by architects.

Responsibilities include developing internal and external compatibility of the system and subsystems, creating highly complex scripts to automate tasks, documenting new or modified solutions and installation instructions, writing configuration for cloud platforms, collaborating with developers on Dev Ops operations, leading the implementation and integration of cloud solutions across business and IT functions, proactively seeking new ways to integrate cloud solutions with existing enterprise tools, ensuring compliance with architectural standards, evaluating enterprise cloud technology standards and tools, and partnering with security staff to maintain a secure environment.

The role also involves planning and validating installation, configuration, and maintenance of cloud solutions, implementing governance for role‑based access control (RBAC), cost containment, cloud provider account management, developing time and cost estimates for cloud solutions, creating specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility, evaluating technical requirements for infrastructure impacts, and designing physical architecture for cloud‑based solutions.
