The Shakopee school district has an opening for a Cultural Family Liaison (Spanish) (1.0

FTE) on the Para educator contract. Compensation Range: $25.91-$30.50 per hour, based on experience. A competitive benefit package is also available and includes the following

Act as a cultural liaison between the Shakopee Public Schools and families whose home language is Spanish. Facilitate successful communication between school staff members and families. Promote positive relationships using cultural awareness and positive communication skills. Assist families to access available educational programs and services. Proactively advocate for ways to increase parental involvement in school activities and promote viable methods to increase communication and understanding between families and schools.

Use interpretation and translation skills to ensure that families and staff communicate information necessary for students to be successful in school.

Demonstrates fluent speaking and writing of English and target language. Experience preferred in education, social work or related field. Previous experience with using cultural competency skills is necessary. Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of families, including some evenings as required.
