Position Details / Scope of Work
:
We are seeking an experienced Quality & Safety Manager to support our client from their corporate office, with occasional site travel. The manager will review safety metrics from active job sites, conduct hands‑on inspections at power plants and data center projects, audit safety practices, and work with project managers to keep quality and safety standards front and center. The manager will also lead toolbox talks, review data points, identify trends, craft actionable insights, and ensure compliance documentation stays audit‑ready.
Position will be full time and in‑person/on‑site, with an expected average of 40 hours per week. Some intermittent availability on weekends, evenings, or early mornings may be required if the client is supporting a project with emergent needs. Travel will be “as needed” to sites; may last 1-2 days per trip. Client advised that travel will be required but will be infrequent (about 25% or less).
QualityManagement
- Develop and oversee company‑wide and project‑specific EHS plans, procedures, and training programs.
- Implement and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with industry standards, such as ISO 9001.
- Monitor quality functions across office, shop, and field teams; perform audits and report on performance metrics.
- Establish quality control measures, conduct inspections, and address defects or deviations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits on job sites.
- Perform internal quality audits to verify adherence to project specifications and procedures.
- Coordinate with clients, utilities, and regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA) during inspections.
- Organize and conduct safety training, including toolbox talks, orientation sessions, and subcontractor accountability.
- Promote a safety‑first culture and communicate best practices and policy updates.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety and quality‑related inquiries and emergencies.
- Lead investigations into accidents, near‑misses, and incidents using root cause analysis.
- Analyze incident data to identify trends and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain OSHA logs, incident reports, and safety training records.
- Manage third‑party registration portals to maintain approved vendor status (e.g., ISNetworld, Avetta, Ariba).
- Work closely with project managers and field teams to integrate safety and quality requirements.
- Review and approve safety submittals from subcontractors.
- Support ISO 9001 process improvement initiatives and participate in internal audits and risk assessments.
Education
:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years managing safety for heavy construction projects, preferably in the power utility industry.
- CPR/First Aid certification required.
- OSHA 30 required.
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA 1926 regulations, utility‑specific safety protocols, and DOT regulations.
- Proven experience implementing Quality Management Systems and conducting inspections.
- Strong verbal and written communication, training, and leadership skills.
- Ability to travel frequently and work in various weather conditions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CUSP, or CHST preferred.
- OSHA 40 HAZWOPER and OSHA 500 preferred.
- 5+ years ISO 9001 QMS experience; ISO 9001 Lead Auditor preferred.
- Certified Safety Manager – Construction, Certified Construction Quality Manager, or equivalent desired.
