About the role

The work you'll do is more than just a job. At the State of Minnesota, employees play a critical role in developing policies, providing essential services, and working to improve the well-being and quality of life for all Minnesotans. The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities.

This Program Supervisor will provide strategic guidance, oversight, and leadership for grant administration activities within the Office of African American Health (OAAH) at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). Operating with a high level of independence, the role is responsible for ensuring effective grant administration, programmatic and fiscal compliance, and continuous improvement across OAAH grant programs. The Program Supervisor oversees OAAH’s grant portfolio to ensure alignment with statutory responsibilities, program goals, and equity-centered grantmaking practices that address health disparities impacting African American communities in Minnesota.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise grant managers and maintain accountability for the full grants compliance lifecycle, including solicitation, contracting, monitoring, reporting, and closeout.
  • Lead the request for proposals (RFP) process for OAAH funding initiatives, including the Pathways to Black Health (PBH) program, and support transparent, equitable engagement with community partners.
  • Provide grants leadership and coordination across MDH, community-based organizations, and advisory structures, including serving as the liaison to the African American Health State Advisory Council (AAHSAC).

Telework policy note: The telework policy exempts employees who live more than 50 miles from their primary work location from the 50% in-office requirement to help the State of Minnesota benefit from top talent in every corner of the state.
