Job Description & How to Apply Below
Our client is a mining joint venture advancing one of the most significant undeveloped projects in the country. With one project heading toward feasibility and potential sanction, they need a Project Director who can lead with conviction, align multi-party stakeholders, and deliver.
This is a project leadership role, not just a project management role. You will be accountable for the full picture, reporting to the President and GM with a dotted line to the Board of Managers.
What You’ll Do- Provide strategic leadership across all project phases, from concept through commissioning and close‑out
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks, execution strategies, and stage‑gate processes
- Own cost, schedule, scope, and risk outcomes across the full project lifecycle
- Lead JV partner alignment and multi‑stakeholder decision‑making at the board level
- Oversee EPC/EPCM contractor relationships, contracting strategy, and commercial oversight
- Direct integration across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning
- Approve project baselines, major changes, and capital milestones (PFS, FS, FID)
- Build and lead a high‑performing multidisciplinary project team
- Ensure permitting, regulatory, and environmental requirements are integrated into project design and schedule
- Serve as an Officer of the Company with direct accountability to the Board of Managers
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mining, Construction Management, or a related field, advanced degree preferred
- 15+ years of experience in mining or heavy industrial projects, including full lifecycle leadership of large capital projects
- Demonstrated accountability for cost, schedule, and scope outcomes across project phases
- Experience working with EPC/EPCM contractors and owner’s teams
- Professional designation (P.Eng. or equivalent) and/or PMP strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of governance models, project controls, and capital project delivery frameworks
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments
- Board‑level communication and negotiation skills
- Lead a major capital project from advanced studies through sanction and into construction
- Strong financial backing from established JV partners committed to moving this forward
- Competitive total compensation: base, short‑term incentive, and long‑term incentive tied to project milestones
- A project with real strategic importance to domestic critical minerals supply
We understand no candidate will meet every single desired qualification. If your experience looks a little different from what we’ve identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we’d love to learn more about you!
