The Production Inspector ensures quality of printed circuit boards, systems, and sub‑assemblies through visual, mechanical, and electrical inspection in compliance with required standards.
SummaryThe Production Inspector performs routine visual, mechanical, and electrical inspection of printed circuit boards, systems, and sub‑assemblies at several points in the operation to ensure quality compliance.
Responsibilities- Work from detailed Process Sheets, Visual Aid Packages, Engineering and Production Change Orders, and Critical Item Lists.
- Inspect for component positioning, soldering, markings, and other quality criteria for various manufacturing technologies; identify and record defects.
- Retrieve and verify appropriate paperwork, drawings, and effective dates for each job assignment.
- Verify placement, polarity, and labeling on circuit boards.
- Use Defect Code List to identify defects and route boards to rework/repair facilities; perform minimal rework/repair duties as needed.
- Conduct minimal hand solder operations on printed circuit board assemblies.
- Execute routing tasks per procedure and enter quantities into Baan ERP and PFS systems.
- Maintain accurate process documentation, recommend improvements, and provide timely feedback to other operations, management, and support engineering.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards; perform duties under close supervision.
- Handle tasks of limited scope following standard practices and procedures; build stable working relationships internally.
- Demonstrate professional judgment in resolving routine issues and ensuring quality exceeds customer satisfaction.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ year of experience in basic electronics manufacturing.
- Proficiency with visual inspection methods such as PIR, WPI, FPI, and AOI.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal, multitasking, organization, prioritization, and discretion skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to work with diverse groups.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment.
- Understanding of continuous improvement tools.
- Strong customer service and client focus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Web Ex conferencing software.
- Capability to support 24/7 operations, work overtime when needed, and train on new equipment.
- Participation in continuous improvement activities.
$17.83 to $19.78 USD per hour.
