Small Press Setup Operator II

A Day in the Life:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, job routings, and work instructions
  • Independently set up and operate small presses to achieve quality parts and maximum production efficiency
  • Set up basic tooling and prepare presses for production runs
  • Stage all required materials so production can begin without delay
  • Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to verify material specifications
  • Learn to perform root cause analysis on die or press issues and coordinate with toolroom and maintenance for repairs
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements that enhance quality and efficiency
  • Inspect materials and finished parts for defects and verify compliance with specifications
  • Identify and label materials accurately using tags or labels
  • Perform routine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Capture and document work instructions to ensure consistent setups and production runs
  • Accurately enter production and quality data into the company data collection system
  • Follow all established safety procedures and compliance guidelines
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules and delivery deadlines
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
You’re a Great Fit If You:
  • Have knowledge of punch press operation and die setting
  • Can read and interpret intermediate-level blueprints
  • Are highly detail-oriented with strong inspection and quality skills
  • Can troubleshoot production and equipment issues effectively
  • Manage time efficiently to meet production deadlines
  • Communicate clearly with team members and other departments
  • Value teamwork and collaboration in a manufacturing environment
  • Prioritize safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • 1+ year of experience in metal fabrication or related work
  • Press operation experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to see and hear with vision including close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  • Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the shift
  • Frequent use of hands for handling, reaching, and operating equipment
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and maintain focus during long shifts
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
