Small Press Setup Operator IIList Date: 06/17/2026
Location:
St. Paul, MN
- Read and interpret blueprints, job routings, and work instructions
- Independently set up and operate small presses to achieve quality parts and maximum production efficiency
- Set up basic tooling and prepare presses for production runs
- Stage all required materials so production can begin without delay
- Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to verify material specifications
- Learn to perform root cause analysis on die or press issues and coordinate with toolroom and maintenance for repairs
- Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements that enhance quality and efficiency
- Inspect materials and finished parts for defects and verify compliance with specifications
- Identify and label materials accurately using tags or labels
- Perform routine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Capture and document work instructions to ensure consistent setups and production runs
- Accurately enter production and quality data into the company data collection system
- Follow all established safety procedures and compliance guidelines
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules and delivery deadlines
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Have knowledge of punch press operation and die setting
- Can read and interpret intermediate-level blueprints
- Are highly detail-oriented with strong inspection and quality skills
- Can troubleshoot production and equipment issues effectively
- Manage time efficiently to meet production deadlines
- Communicate clearly with team members and other departments
- Value teamwork and collaboration in a manufacturing environment
- Prioritize safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- 1+ year of experience in metal fabrication or related work
- Press operation experience preferred
- Ability to see and hear with vision including close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
- Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the shift
- Frequent use of hands for handling, reaching, and operating equipment
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and maintain focus during long shifts
- Ability to regularly lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
