- Bachelor's degree in communications/marketing/Philanthropy or related field; and a minimum three years related work experience
- Preferred candidates will have successfully completed course work in basic fundraising/fund development principles provided through a professional organization recognized in the field (such as Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Fund-Raising School through the Center on Philanthropy, the Grantsmanship Center, or a School for Not-for-Profit Management)
- Experience in a comprehensive development program that includes annual giving, special events, major and planned giving programs, and grant writing, preferably in a health-related field
- Experience working with volunteers
- Demonstrated success in fund development
- Knowledge of fundraising principles, including the planning and execution of a comprehensive fundraising program
- Knowledge of the laws, practices, and ethics related to not-for-profit organizations
- Knowledge of computer software applications appropriate for development activities
To assist in implementing short-term and long-term strategic plans for the Foundation, including fund development at all levels including communications, annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, and special events and campaigns.
- Conduct prospect research, as well as help plan and implement cultivation and solicitation activities to create a diverse donor base.
- Help develop and implement an integrated development program that addresses internal needs, and informs targeted external populations about the vision, mission, and goals of the organization.
- Assist with management of fund development efforts of board and non-board volunteers. Assist with fundraising training as needed.
- Manage development acknowledgment systems, donor and prospect records, including supervision of gift entry and receipts, preparations of acknowledgment letters, and generation of development progress reports for internal and board tracking purposes.
- Represent the organization at community events and serve as an ambassador for OMC Regional Foundation and Olmsted Medical Center at all times.
- Support the work of the Olmsted Medical Center, including any unexpected responsibilities, which may arise from time to time, as directed and at the discretion of the vice president, marketing and philanthropy.
