Overview
Location:
Gonda 18, Pulmonary Outpatient Procedure Center. The Pulmonary Medicine adult ambulatory practice meets the adult patient’s needs with acute and chronic pulmonary disease. The unit is staffed with consultants, fellows, NP/PA, registered nurses, procedure assistants, respiratory therapists and Internal Medicine residents. Services include but not limited to medical management, education, same-day interventional procedures and managing in basket messages.
The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
The ANA Nursing:
Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching;
and may participate on committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as a part of the responsibility of their role.

This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the Visa Screen or equivalent certification.
Responsibilities- Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care.
- Support professional nursing practice across settings to meet patient and family needs.
- Lead and participate in quality improvement activities; may serve as preceptor or informal/formal leader; participate on committees or projects.
- Delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and resource availability.
- Possibly drive a personal vehicle as part of the role responsibilities.
- Graduate of a nursing program, as recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA.
- One year of RN experience required.
- All entry-level associate degree RNs with an RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of baccalaureate degree completion within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date; those with start dates prior to April 1, 2020 must provide evidence as stipulated by the degree requirement at the time of hire.
- Additional Qualifications:
1 year professional RN experience preferred; minimum of two years RN experience preferred; ACLS and EKG experience preferred; experience with moderate sedation beneficial; demonstrated leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills; additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area. - Internal applicants should attach their three most recent performance appraisals.
- Licensure/Certification (Must obtain prior to start date):
Current RN license; BLS valid for at least 90 days post start date; acceptable certifications include AHA Heart Code BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers; additional state licensure and/or specialty certification as required by the work area.
