Labor and Delivery, located on EI33, is comprised of eleven birthing/recovery suites, three surgical delivery rooms, and a neonatal resuscitation room. Support persons are encouraged to be with the laboring woman as she desires. Patient Care Type:
The Family Birth Center cares for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum patients and their newborn babies. The staff consists of RNs and PCAs who deliver patient care. The area is supported by a variety of resource persons including health unit coordinators, perinatal education coordinators, nursing education specialists, clinical nurse specialists, social workers, and lactation consultants. Physicians from the following Mayo Clinic departments provide care:
Obstetrics, Family Medicine, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Neonatology, Pediatrics, and Anesthesiology. Certified nurse midwives and neonatal nurse practitioners also provide care for our patients. The focus of care is family-centered delivered through couplet care model.
