Patient Care: 18‑bed intensive care unit providing care for a diverse patient population including thoracic, vascular, orthopedic, plastics, urology, ENT, oral/facial, IR‑lytic procedures, status 1A heart patients, OB, and occasionally CV Surgery and medical patients. This patient population requires nursing support for short‑term postoperative care averaging two to three days, with occasional long‑term care for complex multisystem failure.
Key duties: Monitor respiratory/hemodynamic status, prevent skin breakdown and infection, manage acute and chronic pain, educate patients, and plan discharge. Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide the best nursing care.

Role description: Registered nurse is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, transitions of care, and professional nursing practice across settings. Functions within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of care. Provides leadership through preceptor and formal roles, quality improvement efforts, delegation. Requires excellent communication skills and ability to mentor.
May be required to drive personal vehicle.
This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship requires state licensure and completion of Visa Screen or equivalent certification.
QualificationsGraduate of a nursing program recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA. One year of RN experience required.
Entry‑level associate degree RNs with RN start date after April 1, 2020 must provide evidence of baccalaureate completion within five years. For those prior to April 1, 2020, provide evidence as required at time of hire.
Additional QualificationsOne year of professional RN experience required, ICU experience strongly preferred.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior EMR experience preferred. Ability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends and on‑call. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations. Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.

License and CertificationCurrent RN license by applicable state requirements.
BLS (Basic Life Support) valid for 90 days post start date. Acceptable certifications include AHA/Heartcode BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers.
