Summary
Under the direction of, and in collaboration with unit management, performs responsibilities exercising initiative, judgment, and independent decision‑making within the scope of the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policy and other governing organizations. Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation) in a systematic approach to the direct and indirect care of patients and families.
Job Duties- Provide quality care in multiple settings:
Pediatrics, Medical, Surgical (inpatient/outpatient), Emergency, Senior Care, Nursery, Chemotherapy and ambulance transport as needed or delegated. - Maintain certifications in all areas within scope of practice.
- Supervise LPNs, nursing assistants and health unit coordinators as needed.
- Effectively utilize the nursing process: demonstrate effective interviewing and assessment skills, integrate current techniques to obtain physical and psycho‑social information, and initiate and maintain patient care plans reflecting current needs.
- Provide customer service: respect privacy and dignity of every customer, maintain courteous and friendly demeanor, and follow hospital policies regarding confidential information while being sensitive to cultural differences.
- Demonstrate initiative by completing duties promptly, accepting direction well, working independently, managing time effectively, and training new staff.
- Promote teamwork by welcoming and mentoring newcomers, respecting colleagues, cooperating with coworkers, and supporting organizational change.
- Communicate effectively: follow policies and procedures, identify needs, instruct others, support patient advocacy, and maintain comprehensive computerized documentation for admission, discharge, medication administration, teaching, activities of daily living and accurate intake/output.

RequiredEducation and Experience
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current, unencumbered registered nurse (RN) license in the State of Minnesota.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check as required by the State of Minnesota.
- Required at Hire:
Basic Life Support (BLS). - Required within 3 months of Hire:
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). - Required within 6 months of Hire:
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
All newly hired RNs will receive in‑house trauma training within the first year of employment. This training meets the educational objectives of the Minnesota State Trauma System unless the RN has previously completed one of the following:
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Comprehensive Advanced Life Support (CALS)
Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) - Certified Acute Trauma Nurse (CATN)
- Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR)

Provides patient care to a general population. Shifts are rotating 12‑hour shifts including rotating weekends and holidays.
Supervisory ResponsibilityHours include oversight of non‑licensed personnel who may assist with patient care.
SalarySalary: $40.36 – $65.02 per hour
