Position Summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Staffing Coordinator to support patient care units by coordinating nursing staffing resources on a shift-by-shift basis. This position plays a critical role in ensuring appropriate staffing levels by reviewing staffing needs, allocating available resources, communicating with nursing leadership, and supporting staffing operations across the Department of Nursing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive staffing requests from patient care units and allocate available staffing resources.
  • Review staffing recommendation reports and compare staffing needs with available resources.
  • Collaborate with charge nurses and nursing leadership to meet patient care staffing requirements.
  • Analyze staffing patterns and trends to identify staffing shortages or surpluses.
  • Determine when to grant excused absences or initiate staffing requests.
  • Contact staff regarding schedule adjustments, placement assignments, availability, and excused absences.
  • Assist with orientation and training of nurse managers, nursing supervisors, and nursing staff regarding staffing practices and procedures.
  • Support efficient staffing operations to ensure quality patient care delivery.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience working in an inpatient care unit in a patient care or support role preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Work Schedule
  • Full-time, 0.75 FTE (60 hours per pay period).
  • Straight night shift schedule.
  • 12-hour shifts.
  • Every third weekend rotation (Weekend

    C).
  • Two holidays per year required.
