Mayo Clinic is seeking a Staffing Coordinator to support patient care units by coordinating nursing staffing resources on a shift-by-shift basis. This position plays a critical role in ensuring appropriate staffing levels by reviewing staffing needs, allocating available resources, communicating with nursing leadership, and supporting staffing operations across the Department of Nursing.
Key Responsibilities- Receive staffing requests from patient care units and allocate available staffing resources.
- Review staffing recommendation reports and compare staffing needs with available resources.
- Collaborate with charge nurses and nursing leadership to meet patient care staffing requirements.
- Analyze staffing patterns and trends to identify staffing shortages or surpluses.
- Determine when to grant excused absences or initiate staffing requests.
- Contact staff regarding schedule adjustments, placement assignments, availability, and excused absences.
- Assist with orientation and training of nurse managers, nursing supervisors, and nursing staff regarding staffing practices and procedures.
- Support efficient staffing operations to ensure quality patient care delivery.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience working in an inpatient care unit in a patient care or support role preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills required.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Full-time, 0.75 FTE (60 hours per pay period).
- Straight night shift schedule.
- 12-hour shifts.
- Every third weekend rotation (Weekend
C). - Two holidays per year required.
